Red Knapp’s American Grill is a family-owned restaurant located in downtown Oxford, Michigan, proudly serving the community for nearly 30 years. Opened in 1996, the restaurant carries forward a legacy that began with founder Red Knapp, who opened the original Red Knapp’s Dairy Bar in Rochester in 1950. Known for its homemade buns, milkshakes, and fresh-ground burgers, Red built a reputation for quality, hospitality, and great food that continues to inspire the restaurant today.
That same commitment to tradition and excellence lives on under Brett Knapp, who proudly carries the family legacy forward. As the owner, Brett leads the restaurant with a hands-on approach. Working alongside a dedicated team—including his wife and children—he maintains a welcoming atmosphere built on consistency, care, and genuine hospitality.
As a full-service restaurant, we offer a diverse menu featuring burgers, pastas, sandwiches, fish, salads, steaks, malts, desserts, daily specials, and a full bar.
